U. S. Federal Judge John McCarthy Roll Dies In Arizona Shooting

Tucson, Jan 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) United States federal judge John McCarthy Roll (mostly known as John Roll) passed away in a massive shooting rampage in Arizona on Saturday. The former chief judge for the United States District Court of Arizona was one of the six people who died in the Arizona shooting. He was 63-years-old. The media outlets reported that John Roll was the first federal judge who lost his life in a shooting after Robert Vance (1989).
John Roll’s unfortunate demise was confirmed by U. S. President Barack Obama who said that the judge has served the legal system for about 40 years. Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik stated at a press conference that the Federal Judge was fair-minded, sincere and a brilliant person who was in a wrong place on Saturday. United States’ Senator John McCain, R-Arizona, issued a statement after the shooting and expressed his condolence at the sad demise of John Roll. John McCain stated that words would fall short to express the loss John Roll’s family, friend and the country has faced as he was a man of great character and qualities.
John McCain stated that the Arizona shooting has broken many hearts and the whole nation would mourn the deaths of the victims for many years. A reputed media source reported that two years ago, John Roll received death threats after ruling a $32 million civil-rights lawsuit. He was even under protection for several weeks. Joe Biden, the Vice President of country also expressed his condolence and said that Chief Judge John Roll’s death is a loss to the state and the country. Judge Mary Murguia, who has recently been confirmed to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said that the incident is a terrible tragedy. She also said that John Roll was a prudent leader, an excellent judge and a man of great integrity.
