Two vital witnesses found in Indian-origin bride’s murder case in Cape Town
February 27th, 2011 - 1:23 pm ICT by ANICape Town, Feb 27 (ANI): Two vital witnesses have reportedly been found in connection with the Indian-origin bride, Anni Dewani’s, murder case during her honeymoon in Cape Town last year.
They are believed to possess crucial information relating to the carjack killing in Cape Town last November, the Daily Star reports.
One has been named as Siphiwe Ngom, while the other person is yet to be identified, the paper said.
The South African police had accused Shrein Dewani, the Brit-Indian husband of Anni, of masterminding his wife’s murder after the couple’s taxi driver claimed that Shrien had paid him to stage the hijacking. Dewani, however, has been insisting that he is innocent and is being victimised by the authorities.
Last week, he was admitted in hospital after swallowing sleeping pills in a failed suicide attempt. He is currently fighting his extradition case to South Africa.
The paper quoted Dewani’s spokesman as saying that: “All that Shrien and his family want is for the truth to come out.”
The couple’s taxi driver has admitted his involvement in the killing. Two others are awaiting trial. (ANI)
