Two Russian women killed by hurricane
January 28th, 2012 - 12:25 am ICT by IANSMoscow, Jan 27 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A hurricane caused the death of two women in a southern Russian city Friday.
The incident took place in Novorossiysk city in Krasnodar region.
One woman was blown to a road, where she was hit by a passing car, while the other was rammed into a parked car by a gust of wind, a city spokesman said.
There were, however, different versions of the incidents.
An official from the regional branch of the Investigative Committee said the second death could not be confirmed as the woman had hit a parked car.
Krasnodar governor Alexander Tkachyov said on Twitter one of the victims was a male.
The hurricane, which had a speed of around 135 km per hour, also damaged power lines in the area, temporarily leaving about 250,000 people without electricity.
