Two killed in British refinery blast
June 3rd, 2011 - 5:40 am ICT by IANSLondon, June 3 (IANS) Two people were killed in a blast at an oil refinery in Britain Thursday, Xinhua reported.
The blast occurred at around 1720 GMT at the Chevron oil refinery in Pembroke, Wales, in southwestern Britain.
The cause of the blast was not immediately known.
The blaze was brought under control within an hour and a half. Ten fire engines were pressed into service.
“Emergency services were called and responded immediately. The fire has been extinguished,” Chevron said.
The Chevron oil refinery can refine 220,000 barrels of crude oil a day into petrol and other products.
