Two killed as angry Chinese farmer sets off car bombs (Second Lead)

Beijing, May 26 (IANS) At least two people were killed and six injured Thursday morning when a farmer, venting his anger at a court ruling, set off three car bombs near different government buildings in an eastern China province, officials said.

The explosions took place in Fuzhou city in Jiangxi province near the city procuratorate office, the Linchuan district government building and district food and drugs administration, Xinhua reported.

The farmer set off the first car bomb at 9.18 a.m., the second at 9.29 a.m. and the third at 9.45 a.m., police said. At least 10 vehicles were damaged, witnesses said.

Police retrieved one body outside the Linchuan district government office. One of the four people seriously injured at the site died in hospital, a provincial spokesman said.

Police were yet to identify the victims.

Casualties in the other two explosions were not confirmed.

Plumes of smoke rose from the three sites, weibo.com reported citing witnesses. Windows of nearby buildings were shattered in the blasts.

The suspect was still at large, police said.
