Two die in mid-air crash in Britain
September 5th, 2010 - 4:57 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Sep 5 (IANS) A mid-air collision between two light aircraft taking part in a competition in Britain killed two people.
One of the planes crashed into a dense woodland near Ryde town in the Isle of Wight, killing both on board. The other aircraft crashlanded at Bembridge airport without casualties, the Daily Telegraph said Sunday.
The collision took place Saturday during a race for the Rolls Royce Merlin Trophy, a precursor to the Schneider Trophy.
Nineteen aircraft were reported to be taking part in the race. The collision involved a four-seater touring aircraft and a two-seater sports aircraft.
