Two car bombs defused in Russia
September 30th, 2010 - 10:21 pm ICT by IANSMoscow, Sep 30 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Bomb experts defused two car bombs in the Russian city of Stavropol Thursday, law enforcement officials said.
The first car, containing a corpse and 15 kg of explosives, was discovered parked outside a cafe in the southwestern part of the city early Thursday.
Two residential tower blocks and a school in the neighbouring area were evacuated.
“Another explosive device was found in a car parked nearby,” an source said, adding that the device has been defused.
The combined power of the two explosives was equivalent to 90 kg of TNT, the National Anti-terrorism Committee said.
