Turkey’s top army officials resign
July 30th, 2011 - 12:20 am ICT by IANSAnkara, July 29 (IANS) Top army officials of Turkey, including chief of general staff Isik Kosaner, resigned Friday, a media report said. The reason for their resignations was not given.
Citing private news channel NTV, Xinhua said that along with Isik Kosaner, top commanders of the land force, air force and navy resigned.
Kosaner said his resignation was “upon a necessity”, while the other three commanders did not explain.
The commanders handed over their resignations to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, NTV said.
