Turkey to strengthen relations with Pakistan
August 12th, 2011 - 6:04 am ICT by IANSAnkara, Aug 12 (IANS) Turkey has vowed to consolidate its relations with Pakistan.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stated this during a joint press conference after holding talks with his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar in the Turkish capital of Ankara, Xinhua reported.
Davutoglu said they discussed bilateral and regional issues and agreed to boost relations between the two countries.
He also stated the two countries will hold Joint Economic Committee’s meeting to solve bilateral economic issues.
The trade volume between Turkey and Pakistan has reached one billion US dollars and both the countries were eager to double it, he said.
“We also set Nov 2 for a meeting on Afghanistan in Turkey, followed by a Turkey-Afghanistan-Pakistan meeting in November,” he said.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khar on this occasion said Turkey and Pakistan shared deep-rooted relations and the two countries should work together to improve economic relations.
Khar said that Pakistan is always committed to regional peace and stability and looks forward to the tripartite summit in November.
