Feb 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The home ground of the Chicago Cubs received a severe blow on Tuesday after a portion of the roof of the Wrigley Field fell during the blizzard. Tuesday’s blizzard which has dumped several inches of snow all through the city has hit the Wrigley Field causing a tension between the city dwellers who travel in the lanes adjacent to the stadium building.
According to sources, a section just on top of the press-box of the Wrigley Field broke away after the severe snow storm hit it on Tuesday. Roderick Drew, a spokesperson of the Emergency Management said that the high speed winds and snow that caused the entire city battering has lent the tiles of the building break loose away and fly. He added that since weather condition have not yet shown any sign of improvement, the Wrigley Field authorities have not been able to start any kind of restoration for the building. The high winds which continue to strike the windy city have prevented the maintenance crew workers from indulging into any kind of repair work.
Keeping in mind the harm that the tiles may cause in case they fall once again, causing harm to pedestrians streets between Clark Street between Grace and Roscoe streets and Addison Street between Sheffield and Racine avenues were shut down at about 5:30 p.m. They will remain closed until further notification is being issued. Reports claim that the chunk that fell was made of fiber board. No sooner the news of the damage broke down when the Chicago Cubs responded to the situation by ensuring that there was no potential harm for the public due to the building.
