Sep 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Early on Wednesday morning, the National Hurricane Center located the Tropical Storm Fiona near latitude of 22.6 degrees north and a longitude of 65.4 degrees west. At present Tropical Storm Fiona is lying at about 1080 kilometers south of Bermuda and is not being considered as a potential threat to the island. The National Hurricane Center held that the storm is moving towards northwest near 28km/hr. The center predicted a decrease in the forward speed of the storm on Thursday. Little change in the strength of the storm has been anticipated as the maximum sustained wind of the storm was recorded to be 85 kilometers per hour. As per reports, the condition of the storm will not differ much in the coming 48 hours.
As of now, tropical storm Fiona has shown no deviation from its predicted path. On Tuesday the National Hurricane center had predicted very little rain from Fiona. Although Meteorologists cautioned that unexpected things can happen and asked the residents to keep a watch at the weather no hurricane or storm watch was issued by the center. The storm Fiona has already passed from the proximity of the northern Leeward Islands on Tuesday night from a distance of about 260 miles east-southeast. It then turned towards west-northwest with a speed of around 20 miles per hour and recorded a maximum sustained speed of around 64 miles per hour.
Therefore, it seems that as it is moving towards the northwest, tropical storm Fiona is gaining strength. However, it has not yet been upgraded to the category of a hurricane and is not being considered as a potent threat as hurricane Earl.
