Traffic advisory issued for CWG road events
October 8th, 2010 - 5:07 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS) Delhi Police Friday issued a traffic advisory restricting traffic in parts of central Delhi for Commonwealth Games cycling and walk events scheduled Oct 9-10.
The 20-km walk will be held on Sansad Marg (Parliaament Street) Oct 9 from 6.20 a.m. and the entire Sansad Marg will remain closed for general traffic from Friday midnight till the event is over around 10.30 a.m. Oct 9.
Cycling Competition — 165 km for men and 100 km for women — will be held Oct 10 from 9 a.m. onwards.
The cycling competition will cover Sansad Marg, Red Cross Road, Rajendra Prasad Marg, Janpath, Rajpath, Vijay Chowk apart from Outer Circus Connaught Place, Barakhamba Road, Bhavabhuti Marg and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.
“To facilitate traffic and security arrangements, route will be closed from midnight of Oct 9, and restrictions will remain in force up to 7 p.m. Oct 10,” the advisory said.
