Tornadoes kill seven in US
June 7th, 2010 - 11:48 am ICT by IANSWashington, June 7 (DPA) A series of tornadoes killed at least seven people and injured many more in the US over the weekend, news reports said.
In Millbury, a small town in north-western Ohio, a tornado killed seven people including a 5-year-old child, CNN reported Sunday. A dozen people were hospitalised.
The US National Weather Service said at least seven tornadoes hit the state.
In the state of Michigan, 11 people were injured by storms. Storm damage to an outer wall caused the automatic shutdown of a nuclear power plant.
Storms also damaged buildings, uprooted trees and interrupted power lines in Illinois.
