Top dogs get state-of-the-art animal hospitalMarch 31st, 2008 - 8:23 am ICT by admin
Hong Kong, March 31 (DPA) Pampered pooches are set to receive top-flight veterinary care following the opening of the first phase of a state-of-the-art animal hospital, a media report said Monday. The facility, called Pets Central, includes a dog day-care centre in addition to the more normal examination rooms.
But that is only the beginning, as a second phase will feature a 24-hour animal hospital with operating rooms, recovery areas and an animal blood bank, the South China Morning Post said. Stage two is expected to open by July.
Pets Central Chairman Peter de Krassel said: “We will have specialists for cats and dogs, plus the only animal cancer doctor - oncologist - in Hong Kong. There will even be a soundproof room for dogs that bark.”
The facility in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay shopping district is being developed as Pets Central is expanding its existing hospital in the Sai Kung area of the territory.
Managing director Pauline Taylor said: “We’re building a hydrotherapy pool there. Basically, it’s a swimming pool for dogs, but with windows next to a cafe so you’ll be able to have a drink and watch your dog swim.”
