Top Chinese official jailed for bribery
December 8th, 2011 - 10:11 am ICT by IANSBeijing, Dec 8 (IANS) A former department chief of the Civil Aviation Administration of China has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for taking bribes.
Zhang Zhizhong was proven guilty of taking 4.73 million yuan (around $746,000) in bribes while serving at the Civil Aviation Administration of China and also as the general manager of the Beijing Capital International Airport Company Limited, Xinhua reported.
The Intermediate People’s Court of Hengshui city in Hebei province Wednesday delivered the sentence.
Zhang was found to have offered job positions at the airport and favourable terms for business partners in exchange for money and gifts, the verdict said.
