Tomato costs Rs 140 per kilogram in Karachi

The prices in the wholesale market have shot up from Rs 60 to Rs120 per kilogram over the past week, a Karachi Wholesale Vegetable Market spokesperson was quoted by Dawn, as saying.

The explanation is that rains in Sukkur and Balochistan three months ago had badly affected the tomato crop due to which the market has been witnessing an unprecedented shortage, he added. (ANI)
