Three-year-old climbs inside toy vending machine
February 18th, 2011 - 5:22 pm ICT by IANSSydney, Feb 18 (IANS) Police, ambulance paramedics and volunteer rescue teams had to be called in after a three-year-old boy was trapped in a toy vending machine at a central coast shopping centre here. The incident occurred at Lake Haven Shopping Centre in the morning time when the child tried to climb up the prize chute to get to the toys.
The boy, Callum Sammut, waited until his mother Tracey Sammut was not looking before crawling up the chute at Lake Haven shopping centre Thursday morning to the amazement of shoppers and his mother, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
“I called out ‘Callum, where are you?’ and he said ‘I’m here, mum’ … and he popped his head out [of the chute],” Sammut told Sky News.
Rescue workers removed the vending machine’s door within 10 minutes to free Callum, who spent close to an hour inside.
“He was really excited he got hold of the toys,” said Angie Saladine, a witness.
