Madrid, Spain, March 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was not a zebra that had ventured out on the road or some notorious monkey creating a ruckus, the Civil Guard police of Canary Islands had a tough time on Tuesday as what they were tracking were three tigers. On Tuesday three tigers escaped from a zoo in Spain’s Canary Islands and were later shot down by the police. The incident occurred at Cocodrilos Park zoo, when an employee accidentally while cleaning outside the tiger cage put his hand on the button that opened the cage door.
The cage whose door got accidentally opened contained seven tigers. While three tigers took the opportunity and ventured out, four other tigers in the cage remained inside. The authorities alerted the Civil Guard Police who then tracked down the tigers. The tigers were shot to death by the police.
The official of the Cocodrilos Park zoo mentioned that there were no visitors at the zoo during that time. The only person who had been near the cage was the cleaning employee. The tigers outside the cage could have turned out to be a potent threat to the cleaning employee but the employee was not hurt by the tigers in any way. The tigers’ escape from the zoo however is not the first case this year of animal escaping from the zoo enclosure. On Feb 13 this year a gorilla escaped from the Dallas zoo. The 180 pound female gorilla named Tufani was 19 years old escaped when the zoo keeper cleaning the cage left the cage door open without noticing two gorillas inside.
