Three Myanmar soldiers killed in Mekong river clash
December 12th, 2011 - 10:59 am ICT by IANSBangkok, Dec 12 (IANS) Three Myanmar soldiers were killed in a clash with a drug gang on the Mekong river during a joint patrol, Xinhua reported Monday.
A joint team of Myanmar and Lao soldiers Sunday clashed with a drug trafficking group, about 20 km north of the Golden Triangle.
China, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar began their coordinated patrol on the river last Saturday after the killing of 13 Chinese sailors on the Thai section of the river in October.
