Islamabad, Aug 1 (IANS) At least three people were killed Monday in a drone strike in Pakistan’s northwest tribal region bordering Afghanistan, a media report said.
The strike took place at noon when two missiles were fired by the drone at two vehicles suspected to be carrying militants near the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan, Xinhua reported citing Urdu TV channel Duniya.
South Waziristan is considered a stronghold of Al Qaeda and Taliban militants.
Monday’s drone strike was the 44th of its kind in Pakistan in 2011. An estimated 406 people have been killed in such strikes this year.
