Lahore, Sep 18 (IANS) Three people have been arrested for selling pirated editions of former Indian minister Jaswant Singh’s book “Jinnah: India, Partition, Independence” in this Pakistani city, authorities said.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided two shops in Defence Housing Authority and arrested three people for selling the pirated editions of Jaswant Singh’s book, Daily Times reported Friday.
A countrywide crackdown has been launched on publishers and bookstores selling fake editions of Jaswant’s book.
A dozen people have been arrested in Rawalpindi for allegedly printing and selling pirated editions of the book.
Several fake copies of the book have also been recovered and several cases registered in Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
According to FIA officials, this action was taken on a complaint by Tariq Haq, regional sale head of the Oxford University Press (OUP) who claimed that OUP had purchased the rights to the book in Pakistan.
Singh, 71, was expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party following the release of his book.
His sacking triggered a turmoil in the party.
