Moscow, Sep 21 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Three people were killed Wednesday when a car exploded in Makhachkala, the capital of Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, police said.

Investigators have not yet identified the victims of the blast, but did not rule out that they were militants “transporting an explosive device that went off in the car”, an offical said.

“A grenade and three handguns were found in the car,” he added.

Volatile Dagestan, which neighbors Chechnya, saw some 50 percent of all militant attacks in Russia last year.
