Thieves who ripped off Santa return toys
December 30th, 2011 - 6:29 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Rome, Dec 30 (IANS/AKI) Thieves who ripped off Santa Claus have returned the bag of toys with a note saying “sorry”.
Businessman Giorgio Abbruzese dressed as Santa Dec 24 was giving out toys to children in Rome’s historical Piazza Navona when during a moment of distraction thieves made off with a sack containing about 1,000 euros worth of toys, according to daily Il Messaggero.
His lawyer sent out word via the media, a message that must have been received by the toy thieves who Wednesday returned the goods - still wrapped - and placed them in front of the lawyer’s office with a note.
“We’re sorry. We made a mistake. Merry Christmas,” it said, according to the report.
Abbruzese has been Santa, or Babbo Natale as he is commonly called in Italy, and giving away toys for 10 years.
