Thief returns stolen goldfish
July 26th, 2010 - 12:39 pm ICT by IANSAuckland, July 26 (IANS) A thief who stole about 90 goldfish from a couple’s pond in a New Zealand town, had a change of heart and returned about 50 of them.
Allan and Kaye Smith were devastated when they found out 90 goldfish were stolen while they were out Saturday.
Kaye Smith discovered later about 50 had been returned when she went to feed the remaining fish.
“I let out a yell… ‘They’re back!’,” Kaye was quoted as saying by the New Zealand Herald. “The fish were very hungry and had to be fed twice.”
Whoever stole them must have panicked after word spread in the area and brought them back, she said, adding that she failed to understand why someone would steal them.
“We’ve got a heart of gold. Someone only had to knock on the door and say, ‘Kaye or Allan, could we have a couple of goldfish?’ and we would have given them to them.”
