The struggle is not over: Israeli PM on 9/11
September 11th, 2011 - 9:30 pm ICT by IANSJerusalem, Sep 11 (IANS) A decade since the Al Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Sunday of growing radical Islamism and the threat of militants obtaining nuclear weapons.
During the weekly cabinet session, Netanyahu said the world was still in danger and that in fact, in the middle of a war.
“We are in this struggle, the struggle against terrorism, and while there is no doubt that this is terrorism, it is a tool of war. This is not a conventional war, and the struggle is not over,” Xinhua quoted Netanyahu as saying in a statement.
Radical Islam “threatens the very existence of the State of Israel and in its linking up with radical regimes, it brings the tools of terrorism - rockets and missiles - to Israeli civilians,” the prime minister said.
Israeli officials took part at a memorial ceremony at a 9/11 memorial site near Jerusalem Sunday to remember the nearly 3,000 people who died in the terror attacks in the US.
