The crazy things women would do to get skinny!January 4th, 2008 - 1:42 pm ICT by admin
New York, Jan 4 (ANI): It looks like women can go to any extent to lose a few pounds, for a survey has revealed that nearly one in four US women would gladly spend a week behind bars to reach their ideal weight.
The survey, conducted by Fitness magazine, quizzed 1,000 women age 18 and older about their appetites and attitudes.
Of all the women surveyed, 85 percent said that they would stroll through life with an extra toe to keep off the pounds.
23 percent said that they would shave their heads and nearly 50 percent responded that they would rather lose 20 pounds than live to be 100.
“Yes, it can be funny to hear about the lengths women will go to lose a few pounds,” the New York Daily News quoted Denise Brodey, editor-in-chief of Fitness, as saying.
“But on a serious note, it’s unsettling to see just how deep-seated our unhappiness with our bodies is, Brodey added.
The survey found that 41 percent women diet more often in a bid to look better than to feel better or to be healthier.
42 percent of women used a diet drug or supplement to lose weight, while 24 percent tried a one-day liquids-only diet, the survey found.
When asked what would they sacrifice to achieve their ideal weight, the responses were quite astonishing.
Tara Amelchenko, 30, of Manhattan, said she’d be willing to grow a sixth toe, but wouldn’t go to jail or shave her head. “More of me to love,” she said of the additional toe.
Anne Sirkin, 37, of Holmdel, N.J., admitted she’d spend time behind bars and also cut off all her hair.
“I’d do that for sure. Hair grows back,” she said. (ANI)
