Thai caretaker government to nominate Somchai as PMSeptember 16th, 2008 - 11:03 pm ICT by IANS
Bangkok, Sep 16 (Xinhua) Thailand’s six political parties Tuesday announced to retain their alliance in forming a new government and nominate acting prime minister Somchai Wongsawat as the country’s premier in Wednesday’s parliamentary vote.The announcement was made at a press conference here Tuesday that was attended by Somchai along with the representatives of the six political parties.
Both Somchai and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee are from the country’s leading People Power Party (PPP).
Somchai said he was ready to head a government that works for the benefit of people and nation. He said the new government would amend some policies of the previous administration.
The nomination of Somchai is expected to be presented to the House of Representatives for a voting Wednesday.
