Dec.28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As per the latest updates, Texas is among the news states of the USA that are witnessing a surge in their population. The news has been confirmed by U.S. Census Bureau. Texas added over 478000 people to its population in last year the bad times and economic meltdown notwithstanding. It is ahead of other states of the country in adding new people to its population. The experts think that compared to other US states has been affected less by the bad economic times. It is a state with lower rate of unemployment and relatively stable housing market.
In the previous month the unemployment rate in Texas was 8 percent down from the national average of 10 percent. The Houston area in particular has been affected much less by price boom and subsequent fall. It is undeniable that the total population of states like Florida, Nevada and California went up because of large scale immigration. However, all these states saw a huge amount of people leaving in the last year. Some of the residents who have moved into Texas are happy with its better employment scenario and pleasant weather. Texas now has 24.8 million people. Its population has been on rise since 2000. If this goes on, the state will have 4 more seats in the House of Representatives.
However, the economists are worried that the population growth can have an impact on the environment. It can result in traffic congestion, reduced greenery and more pollution. The administration has plans like introducing better and fast mass transit system to cope up with the growth.
