Tesla Motors to open a showroom in ChicagoMarch 4th, 2009 - 10:43 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Tesla Motors two outlets in Los Angeles and Menlo Park and now it will be the first outside California. Hence the opening is at a Chicago store. The Chicago facility is in addition to the ones Tesla Motors already has set up in Los Angeles and Menlo Park, California.
The company also began selling cars to Canadian customers, and said it will make its first deliveries in the fourth quarter.
The only company’s car production is its Roadster and Tesla will sell its Roadster, an electric sports car worth $109,000.
Tesla founder and chief executive Elon Musk said last month that the company would be profitable by July or August of this year, even after having to scrap plans to build a factory in San Jose because the company couldn’t get the funding it needed. That factory would have built the Model S sedan, which is being unveiled on March 26.
The San Carlos-based company says it is opening its next store in London, it’s finalizing site selection for stores in Manhattan, Seattle and Miami, and is scouting sites in Washington D.C. and Munich.
