Temples should be used to unite Malay Indians, says MIC leader
May 15th, 2009 - 1:07 pm ICT by ANIKuala Lumpur, May 15 (ANI): Temples in Malaysia should be used to unite the Malay Indian community, the Tamil Nesan quoted Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) secretary-general Dr. S. Subramaniam, as saying.
He also said it was important that those holding positions in temple committees have the respect of the community and also be accepted by all.
Subramaniam, who is Malaysia’s Human Resources Minister, also urged the Malaysian Hindu Sangam (MHS) to play a more active role in organizing workshops.
According to The Star, he added that this is crucial to ensure that Indians would be more aware of their culture and traditions. (ANI)
