The study found that the average teen accumulates 936 pounds a year in pocket money, Christmas and birthday cash and income from work or odd jobs, reports the Mirror.

The research, based on responses of 3,000 young people, also discovered that a typical 13-year-old nets 45 pounds per month rising to 120 pounds for those aged 18.

According to the researchers, parents dole out an average 70 pounds and up to 180 pounds to their teens at Christmas and 50 pounds to 150 pounds on birthdays.

They further point that more than two thirds refuel their allowance with a job, amongst which babysitting or shopwork are most popular. (ANI)
