Teenagers Charged With Killing Turtle By Setting It On Fire

Teens Charged June 14, 2010 (Pen Men at Work: A couple of teenagers belonging to New York have been arrested on charge of killing a turtle. The teenagers had, apparently, found the turtle on Bellport Road. The turtle was reportedly a snapper turtle which weighed all of12 pounds.

The kids took the turtle with them and put them inside a fire pit in their backyard. They then soaked the creature in gasoline and put fire to it. The turtle was then tortured to death as the teenagers prodded it with a metal pole that pierced through its tough shell.

The county police of Suffolk have arrested both the kids for this act of cruelty. Both the accused are 18 year old young adults and have been booked on charges of cruelty to animals and criminal trespass of the third degree.

One of the suspects ha been arrested on Friday and the other on Saturday for the offense committed on the 22nd of May.
