signalJan 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Katie Dagley, a 19 year old teenager, lost her life in United Kingdom, when a snail or a slug caused a traffic light failure on a single lane bridge. This created a confusion and she collided into another oncoming car, while she was driving on that bridge, on her way back home from work. The girl was pronounced dead right on the location.

Andy Stevens, senior traffic police investigator said that it was hardly her fault. About twenty minutes before the accident took place, a trail was left by a snail, caused the malfunctioning of the traffic light. He added that the trail was left across the circuit board, that resulted into a short circuit, to cause the malfunctioning. The traffic police lodged a complain at about 10.52pm, and the accident took place just twenty minutes later. The dis-functioning traffic signal not only caused trouble for Katie Dagley, but also confused, James Cope, 18, the boy who was driving the Fiat Punto, with whom her car collided. He said that he could see the headlight of another car, approaching from the opposite direction, but he continued to drive as he could not assess that the car would come on the bridge at the same time. Although he tried to press the brake, it was too late by then.

Father Michael Dagley, said that her beloved youngest daughter will be badly missed by her family and friends, as she loving, caring and a very jovial young girl, who could brighten people’s day with her “infectious” smile. Mother Julie Dagley said that her daughter wanted to travel all around the world and aspired to be a chef. She added, that what happened is probably the worst night mare of every mother, and she has left a big hole in their lives that would never be filled.
