Moscow, Oct 30 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A 24-year-old woman teacher in a St. Petersburg school was beaten up by a man, because she “failed” to protect his stepdaughter from getting hurt when she was pushed by a schoolboy.

The incident that took place Oct 26 was apparently a “punishment” for the teacher’s inability to prevent seven-year-old Milena, stepdaughter of Andrei Petrov, a security guard and a former police officer, from hurting her lip while at school. She fell when a schoolboy pushed her, the Investigative Committee said Friday.

The young teacher suffered bruises and concussion of the brain and is now in a hospital. She is afraid to return to the school and has reportedly handed in her resignation.

A number of media organisations released a video taken by a school video camera on YouTube, showing Petrov punching and kicking the woman.
