Suspected IM operative Peerbhoy brought to Delhi
February 27th, 2009 - 10:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 27 (IANS) Mohammed Mansoor Peerbhoy, a computer engineer who is alleged to be a key operative of the homegrown terror outfit Indian Mujahideen, was brought to the national capital from Mumbai Friday. He will be questioned in connection with the Sep 13 blasts here last year, police said.
“Peerbhoy was brought to Delhi Friday in a train. He will be presented before the Tis Hazari court Saturday,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P.N. Aggarwal told IANS.
“We have brought him here to interrogate him on his possible links to the Delhi blasts. We will seek at least one week’s police remand for him,” he added.
Peerbhoy has been accused of sending a terror e-mail to media outlets minutes before the serial bombings in Delhi Sep 13 last year that killed 24 people.
Peerbhoy’s revelations are expected to give the police insights into the role of suspected Indian Mujahideen plotters Riyaz Bhatkal, his brother Iqbal and Amir Reza Khan, who are all absconding.
According to police, Peerbhoy worked with a multinational software company in Pune, earning an annual salary of Rs 1.9 million. He allegedly hacked unsecured WiFi networks in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and sent e-mails to TV news channels minutes before the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts and the Delhi bombings.
