Florida, Oct 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Police arrested a suspect, who is an African American dressed in a green and yellow shirt, on the University of South Florida on Monday afternoon after he was believed to have entered the campus with a gun and perhaps a bomb too.

The university officials have requested the Students to stay inside and lock their doors and stay away from the Campus until the all clear is given. “Avoid the area and report anything suspicious,” a message to students read.

Authorities said an off-campus call was transferred to USF police from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The caller said that a suspicious man with a gun was seen in front of the university’s library. The USF website also posted an update regarding the armed intruder.

The police are fully armed and prepared for all eventualities with a hostage negotiator also in tow, with them. It is still to be conformed whether the person arrested is the actual ‘armed intruder’ or just an ordinary suspect. The police have shut down the campus local transit system to refrain students from commuting to the campus.

Student Ella Michel, who spoke to FOX News from her dormitory, said she was informed that the school was on lockdown via a text message from the school’s administrators.

Local media reports said, at one point that a hostage negotiator had been called in, just in case it turns out to be a hostage situation. The exact situation is still cloudy and still developing but at this point there are no reports of any injuries.
