Mar 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Disaster is a never ending phase when nature is involved. A situation where you can do nothing but only surrender to the inevitable. Haiti which had witnessed a devastating earthquake on Jan 12 is now in a state of absolute catastrophe owing to the heavy rainfall that has washed away the survival camps of 45000 victims who were being temporarily sheltered at an old golf course. The survivors of the earthquake were thrown into huge ripples of water along with their belongings. They were trying to pull back but the heavy flow of the water held them back thus bringing about huge destruction.
The people went panicky and they were crying and shouting as the heavy water flow rendered them defense less. An Israeli aid group Praecipio has come up offering help to the victims of the calamity and help them pull it together after the downpour has taken off. However, there weren’t any reports of death in the camp that is located just behind the country club which the US army has been using as its forward operating base for the 82nd Airborne.
About 1.3 million people have lost their house due to the earthquake with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon pointing out that the area where these people are being kept in the survival camps was indeed “dangerous”. Even after a series of discussions with the landowners, the government officials shows no sign of shifting the homeless crew to their pre-promised sites where these people could find a better way to live and not just survive.
