Kabul, July 12 (Xinhua) A suicide bomber blew himself up targeting an army patrol Saturday killing two soldiers and one civilian and wounding five others in the southern Afghan province of Helmand, the police said. Mohammad Hussein Andiwal, the provincial police chief said the blast occurred at around 12 a.m.(0730 GMT) when the suicide attacker detonated the explosives belt strapped to his body in the Marja district.
“Two Afghan soldiers and one civilian were killed,” Andiwal said. “One police and four other civilians were reportedly wounded in the blast.”
According to the International Committee of the Red Cross over 250 civilians have been killed or injured in various incidents in Afghanistan since July 4.
Militancy and conflicts have claimed the lives of more than 2, 000 people with some 700 civilians till date this year in Afghanistan.
