Kabul, May 29 (Xinhua) At least three civilians were killed Thursday in a suicide attack targeting a convoy of international troops in the Afghan capital, the NATO-led security forces said. Seven Afghans were also wounded in the blast, which caused no casualties for the targeted troops, security forces added.

Zabihullah Mujahed, who called himself a Taliban spokesman, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying a Taliban militant exploded his explosives-laden pick-up van close to a foreign troops convoy.

Suicide attacks by militants have dramatically increased in the last two years. Escalating militancy in Afghanistan claimed 8,000 lives in 2007, a record high since 2001.
