California, Nov.30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The California State University students as well as other students who aspire to study in the reputed institution have to face a new hurdle as the University authorities have recently decided to increase the undergraduate tuition fees by a margin of 32 percent. The new regulation would be made effective over the next two years and supposedly would be implemented in two steps.
However, this new resolution has not been taken lightly by the students who have been demonstrating against the new regulation through protests and strikes. The increment in the fees structure is likely to be a expensive affair for the students, many of whom come from such financial backgrounds which would make it difficult for them to continue their education. Moreover, the increase in fees would make the University more costlier than other private institutions which also provide various financial programs that prove to be immensely helpful for students hailing from middle class backgrounds.
However, bad news for the students does not just end here as this year student enrollments have been reduced by a whopping margin of 40,000 in the upcoming two years. The reason for the decrease has been attributed to reduction in the state funds and it is likely to result in only the high ranking students getting enrolled in the institution. Other students who are left out would have lesser options to choose from and at the same time they would have to pay much more. Although the University officials claim that the decisions are valid, one thing is for sure that the students would have to bear the brunt of the new changes.
