Strong quake rocks Indonesia
August 2nd, 2009 - 6:25 pm ICT by IANSJakarta, Aug 2 (Xinhua) An undersea earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale Sunday jolted the West Papua province in eastern Indonesia, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.
The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 0854 GMT, was located at 127 km off the coast of Manokwari.
There were no reports of damage or casualties.
Indonesia, home to over 230 million people, sits on a quake-prone zone called the Pacific Ring of Fire, where the two continental plates meet.
