Strong earthquake hits western Mexico (Lead)
April 5th, 2010 - 8:08 am ICT by IANSWashington, April 5 (IANS) An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale hit the Mexican peninsula of Baja California Sunday afternoon, the US Geological Survey said.
The depth of the strong quake was reported at at 10 km, Xinhua reported quoting the the USGS.
The epicentre of the earthquake is located in Baja California, the northernmost state of Mexico that boarders US state of California.
The tremor was felt in southern California and sent high-rises in major cities like Los Angeles and San Diego rocking back and forth.
There was no immediate report of casualties or damage.
