Stipe happy with others performing his band’s songsMarch 12th, 2009 - 2:01 pm ICT by IANS
London, March 12 (IANS) American rock band REM’s lead singer Michael Stipe was excited about a charity music concert in New York because it gave him a chance to hear his own music being performed live.
Singers Patti Smith, Glen Hansard and Bob Mould headlined a REM tribute performance Wednesday at Carnegie Hall to raise money for music education charities, reports contactmusic.com.
“It’s a great honour. I will never be able to see my band perform. You can watch a tape - but you don’t know what it feels like in the room,” said Stipe.
