rally-crowd October 31, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert rally which was held in the National Mall in Washington DC was packed from pillar to post with an amazing gathering of more than 60,000 and up crowd, thronging for the fear/sanity rally, which was mainly touted as the rally to restore sanity and fear.

It was on Saturday, the 30th of October, that the moderate rally was conducted extremely successfully and the crowd was treated to funny anecdotes, jokes, music like that of John Legend, Ozzy Osbourne, Mavis Staples, Yusuf Isburn earlier known as Cat Stevens.

There was fun poked at the angry demonstration of last two years summer, and the town hall meetings, which they stressed was not the right attitude towards change.

There were many fancy dress turnouts at the mall, with the Lewis Carol book ‘Alice in Wonderland‘ characters being emulated the most. There were people in costumes of Alice, the mad hatter, the hare, and the entire tea party too.

The other prominent feature was Minute men, Founding fathers, Sanity elves, bears, nuns, spacemen, uncle Sam etc.

There were posters and placards with various messages written, most of which hinted about the freedom of thought, the spirit of thinking on what’s good and what’s not,the willingness to participate with patience, and to do away with anger, frustration and move ahead with a positive frame of mind.

However, the growing power of media enthrusting its views was not spared, and many reps stressed on the fact that, it was better to listen to your inner voice, rather than follow what’s shown by the hundreds of channels on the telly.
