Colombo, Dec 30 (IANS) The Sri Lankan government has vowed to punish the killers of a British national at a tourist resort on the Christmas Day.

Seven people were detained in connection with the murder and will be punished if found guilty, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Laxaman Yapa Abeywardena said Thursday.

Red Cross worker Kuram Shaikah Zaman was killed at a resort in Tangalle, some 160 km from Colombo. His Russian colleague Victoria Alexandrovna was injured in the attack.
