cinCincinnati, Sep 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The WEBN Fireworks 2010 kick started on Sunday night sharp at 9:05 p.m. The annual Labor Day weekend affair that entered its 34th anniversary this year turned out once again to be a grand affair with millions of people turning up for the event. Reports claim that this year it was attended by around half million people.

The crowd started pouring in by the side of River Ohio from early Sunday morning. Although the main firework display every year begins late at night, down the years, WEBN Fireworks event has become one such annual event surrounding which many other events take place. Surrounding the WEBN Fireworks, Freestore Foodbank’s annual Rubber Duck Regatta fundraiser is organized. This year as well 100,000 tiny, plastic sunglass-wearing ducks were let off the Purple People Bridge at around 3 p.m. It is this spectacular view of thousands of ducks floating down the river that attracts thousands of people. This year, the winning duck, which is plucked out of the floating ducks from the water midway by Miami University Volunteers, has won David Holder, the purchaser of the duck, a 2010 Honda Fit Sport.

As for the main WEBN Fireworks event, it turned out once again to be a grand affair. 63-year-old Helen Alvin, of Owensville, who turned up for the event, exclaimed “It was great…We’ve never been this close before”. As the fireworks lit up the dark sky with purple, yellow and white lights, it was once again the sounds of amazement that filled the air. The organizers of the event maintained that the event was successfully completed without any casualty reports.
