Soldier’s death in UK takes Afghan troop toll to 200

London, Aug.16 (ANI): A British soldier has died in the UK from wounds suffered in Afghanistan - the 200th death since operations began in 2002.The soldier was injured in an explosion while on vehicle patrol in Helmand Province.
The serviceman, from The 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh, was injured in an explosion while on vehicle patrol in Helmand Province on Thursday.
He died on Saturday at the Royal College of Defence Medicine, in Selly Oak, West Midlands.
The soldier’s family has been notified.
Gordon Brown said news of the 200th death was “deeply tragic”.

British Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth added: “This is a grim day. Two hundred brave service men and women have lost their lives in Afghanistan, bringing unbearable pain and immeasurable loss to their families and friends.According to Sky News, the announcement of the soldier’s death came just hours after the Ministry of Defence named three British troops who were killed providing security for the Afghan elections.
