Soldier killed in Philippines accident
January 23rd, 2012 - 8:03 am ICT by IANSManila, Jan 23 (IANS) A soldier was killed when a military truck was hit by a civilian bus in the Philippines, a military spokesman said.
Maj. Enrico Gil Ileto, spokesman of the Army’s 7th Infantry Division, said the troops were on their way to a counter-insurgency operation when the incident occurred on a highway in Magalang town in Pampanga province Sunday.
The truck was carrying a platoon of about 30 soldiers.
The driver of the bus has been detained on charges of reckless driving that resulted in homicide, injuries and damage to property, the spokesman said.
