Soldier dies in Pakistan ammunition depot blasts (Second Lead)
July 11th, 2011 - 3:07 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, July 11 (IANS) A soldier was killed and three others were injured in three massive explosions that ripped through an army ammunition depot near here.
The deafening blasts in succession took place around 10.30 a.m. at the depot located near Kok Pul and the army promptly blocked access to the area.
The depot was used by the army to store explosives, reported the Geo News.
Fire also broke out at the site after the multiple explosions and firefighters struggled to control the blaze.
Following the blasts, the whole building collapsed. TV images showed rescue teams rushing to the site of the huge blasts.
An earlier report said that an electrical short circuiting could have caused the explosions.
