snow-stormJan 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The massive disruption along the East Coast continues its wrath as heavy snow storm swept across the area on Wednesday, a situation with which the residents are quite familiar with. Schools were shut down and all the roads were closed due to the hazardous road conditions. Hundreds of flights were canceled thereby causing a whirlpool of chaos over the region.

With the winter not yet over, the continuous disruption caused by the frequent snow storm is certainly a factor to be worried about. The turbulent weather condition nearly had President Barack Obama in trouble as he was coming back to White House from a trip to Wisconsin. The hazardous weather condition forced his Helicopter Marine One to ground, instead he was escorted via a motorcade. Even then he had to battle off the heavy traffic that slowed down like a snail due to the tumultuous weather conditions. According to sources, as many as six hundred flights were canceled in the New York area airports. More than 300 flights were canceled in the Philadelphia area airport.

Even New Jersey wasn’t spared from the heavy snow storm. The state workers were asked to go back to their respective homes and schools were shut down as the weather conditions continued to detoriate. New York City was forced to declare a weather emergency. This is the second time the area had to declare an emergency since Dec 26 storm which left hundreds of buses and ambulances stranded and caused a political crisis for the mayor. The weather officials are yet to determine when the weather crisis will come to an end.
